Apps / MashupLab
Mash up any two songs.
Available now for Mac
MashupLab pulls songs apart into vocals, drums, bass and everything else, then lets you mix the pieces live, like a DJ. It runs entirely on your Mac.

What it does
- Stems on every deck
Each song splits into vocals, drums, bass and other, with its own fader, mute and solo. The separation runs on your Mac.
- Acapella over instrumental
Pick a vocal and a beat. MashupLab matches the tempo, lines up the downbeats and, when it can, shifts the key so they fit.
- Tempo, key and sync
BPM, beat grid and key for every song, with sync, key lock, key shift and match key.
- Built for performing
Hot cues, beat-matched loops and rolls, three-band EQ, filter and crossfader, on two or four decks.
- Headphone cue
Hear the next song in your headphones before the room does. Use a splitter cable on any Mac, or a controller or audio interface with four outputs, and choose which device plays.
- Crates and harmonic matching
Sort and filter your library by tempo, key and status, keep songs in crates, and see at a glance which tracks fit the key and tempo of the deck you are playing.
- Record and export
Record your set as WAV and MP3, or export the mix you are hearing at full quality.
- MIDI and keyboard
Map any control to a MIDI controller, or play the whole thing from the keyboard.
Private by design
No account and no cloud. Your songs, stems and recordings stay on your Mac.
What you need

Questions
Is it a subscription?
No. MashupLab is a one-time purchase. The price shows at checkout, and you download the app as soon as you have paid.
Which Macs does it run on?
A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) on macOS 14 Sonoma or later. It does not run on Intel Macs.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No account. Splitting songs and mixing happen on your Mac, and your songs, stems and recordings never leave it. It only goes online to fetch a song when you paste a link, and once a day to check for a new version.
Where do the songs come from?
Paste a YouTube or Spotify link, or drop in your own MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A or AIFF files. MashupLab splits each one into vocals, drums, bass and other.
Do I need a DJ controller?
No. Everything works with a mouse and keyboard shortcuts. If you have a MIDI controller, you can map any control to it.
Can I cue the next song in my headphones?
Yes. With a headphone splitter cable, any Mac can play the mix in one ear and your cue in the other. With a DJ controller or audio interface that has four outputs, the mix plays on one pair and your headphones get their own. Two separate sound cards can be combined into an Aggregate Device in Audio MIDI Setup.
Can I record my mixes?
Yes. Record your set as WAV and MP3, or export the mix you played at full quality.
How do I get updates?
The app checks once a day and shows a quiet notice when a new version is out. Download it from the link you got after checkout, which always has the latest version. If you have lost that link, write through the contact page from the email you paid with.
