Slate Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 11, 2026

The short version

Slate collects no data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and makes no network connections. Nothing you do in the app leaves your device on its own.

What stays on your device

Your slate fields and take log are saved in the app's own Documents folder on your iPhone. Only Slate can read that folder, and deleting the app deletes the data. Like other app data, it is included in your iPhone's own backups. We have no access to it.

CSV export

Slate can export the take log as a CSV file. This happens only when you tap the share button, and the file is passed to the iOS share sheet. It goes only to the app or person you choose, and that recipient's own terms apply.

Microphone and camera

Slate does not use the microphone or the camera. The clap sound plays through the current audio output: the iPhone speaker, or headphones, a Bluetooth speaker or AirPlay when one is connected. Slate shows a warning when the sound is not going to the iPhone speaker, because wireless outputs add delay.

Third parties

Slate contains no third-party SDKs and shares no information with third parties. It does not track you across apps or websites.

Purchases

Slate is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details.

Children's Privacy

Slate collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, we will update the effective date above.
